North Dakota Shoot from a Stationary Vehicle Permit

North Dakota Game and Fish issues this permit so a licensed hunter can shoot wildlife from a stationary motor vehicle on private land. A clinician must certify that the hunter is unable to walk for the purposes of hunting or taking wildlife, or has lost the use of an arm at or below the elbow. The application is made online, not on paper.

Who completes it

The hunter applies through their Game and Fish My Account. The certification must come from a licensed physician, certified physician assistant, advanced practice registered nurse or licensed chiropractor, so ask the patient what the online application requires from you.

Submitting and payment

How to submit it
The hunter logs in to My Account on the Game and Fish website with name and date of birth and completes the specialty permit section. No PDF version of the application is published.
Who pays
Game and Fish's disabled-services page lists no fee for the permit or for the clinician's certification.

Good to know

  • The permit applies to private land only; it does not authorize shooting from a vehicle on public land or roads.
  • Two conditions qualify: inability to walk for the purposes of hunting or taking wildlife, or loss of use of an arm at or below the elbow.
  • A current North Dakota hunting license is required in addition to the permit.
  • Hunters who are blind, paraplegic or have lost use of an arm may also qualify for North Dakota's crossbow permit, requested in the same online specialty permit section.
