Wyoming Hunting Season Extension Permit Application

Under Commission Chapter 35, Section 9, Wyoming Game and Fish issues a Hunting Season Extension Permit that lets a qualifying hunter hunt antelope, deer or elk five days before the earliest regular season opening in the hunt area. The hunter must have a central visual acuity disability, quadriplegia, paraplegia, an upper extremity disability, paralysis over half the body, or permanent wheelchair use.

Who completes it

The hunter completes and signs the applicant section, or a parent or guardian signs for a minor. A licensed medical doctor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, optometrist or ophthalmologist checks the qualifying conditions and signs with name, address and phone.

Submitting and payment

How to submit it
Permits are issued at Wyoming Game and Fish regional offices or headquarters in Cheyenne, and applications can be mailed to the License Section. An original signature is required; faxed or emailed copies are not accepted.
Who pays
The application lists no fee for the permit or for the clinician's certification.

Good to know

  • Page 2 prints the Chapter 35 definitions: paraplegic and quadriplegic mean permanently unable to move or feel the legs, or all four limbs, because of injury or illness.
  • Upper extremity disabled means a permanent impairment, congenital or acquired, so severe that the person cannot physically use any legal hunting weapon.
  • The extension covers only the sex of antelope, deer or elk allowed by the hunter's license; it does not change license limits.
  • The application cannot be altered, and altered applications are not accepted. The current version is revised 08/2025.
