Texas CURT Low-THC Cannabis Prescription

Texas has no paper form for low-THC cannabis under the Texas Compassionate Use Program: a registered physician enters the patient record and the prescription, including dosage, amount and method of administration, in the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT). A licensed dispensing organization then verifies the patient in the registry and fills it. The program operates under Health and Safety Code chapter 487.

Who completes it

A Texas MD or DO registered in CURT, who dedicates a significant portion of practice to the patient's condition under Occupations Code chapter 169, completes the electronic prescription and registration, or a delegate enters it. The patient presents ID at the dispensary.

Submitting and payment

How to submit it
Enter the prescription in CURT under your physician registration; the patient then presents identification at a licensed dispensing organization, which verifies the prescription in the registry.

Good to know

  • CURT is designed to prevent more than one qualified physician from registering as the prescriber for the same patient.
  • Qualifying conditions in Occupations Code 169.001 include epilepsy and seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, spasticity, ALS, autism, cancer, incurable neurodegenerative diseases and PTSD; HB 46 expanded the list from September 1, 2025.
  • Physicians can also enter safety and efficacy data from their patients' treatment in CURT, and law enforcement agencies can use the registry to verify patients.
  • HB 46 also raised the number of dispensing organization licenses to 15; DPS publishes a list of licensed dispensaries and a public physician search.

How this list is checked

A form is listed only after its name and number were confirmed on the issuing agency’s or insurer’s own website, or in the form itself. Each entry links to that source. The list was last checked in October 2026. Forms and their requirements change without notice, so check the official page for the current version before you complete one.
