TC 26-0862A: Civil Aviation Fit Certification

After renewing an aviation medical certificate by telemedicine, the Civil Aviation Medical Examiner (CAME) completes this Fit Certification and sends it to a holder found fit. The holder keeps it with their medical certificate or Aviation Document Booklet, since stamping the medical certificate in the booklet is not required for telemedicine renewals. The assessment itself is recorded in Transport Canada's eMER.

Who completes it

The CAME who did the telemedicine assessment completes the whole certificate.

Submitting and payment

How to submit it
The CAME sends the certificate to the licence holder, who keeps it with their Aviation Document Booklet; the assessment results go to Transport Canada through the eMER.

Good to know

  • Telemedicine renewals can be done by telephone, audio-conference or video-conference; video is optional.
  • Holders whose last examination was by telemedicine cannot renew by telemedicine again and need an in-person examination.
  • Routine tests such as an electrocardiogram, urine testing, audiogram and vision testing are not required for a telemedicine renewal when clinically appropriate.
  • If telemedicine is not enough, the CAME ends the assessment, schedules an in-person exam and submits the incomplete results through the eMER.
