WCB Alberta C852: Counselling Progress Report

Contracted psychologists and master's-level social workers send this report to update the WCB-Alberta claim owner on a worker's counselling. It revisits the psychological status, goals and psychosocial measures baselined in the initial report, and gives updated recommendations and accommodations that would support a full or modified return to work. It is due monthly while the worker is being seen.

Who completes it

The treating clinician types and signs the report on the C852 template; signatures from supervising clinicians or office staff are not accepted.

Submitting and payment

How to submit it
Contracted providers submit it monthly through myWCB psychology electronic injury reporting, where the online C852 also handles extension and discharge reporting; a Word template is posted on WCB-Alberta's forms page.
Who pays
WCB-Alberta pays the progress report fee, code PPMR12, which is processed and issued on receipt of the report.

Good to know

  • If no sessions took place in a month, report as soon as the next session is completed; if the worker does not return for treatment, complete a discharge report instead.
  • No progress report is needed for the month in which the initial report was submitted on or after the 15th.
  • When a standalone invoice is submitted online, myWCB checks for a progress report in the last 30 days and blocks the invoice if none is found.
  • Online reports can carry up to three attachments of 1 MB or less each, and myWCB does not connect with clinic EMRs.

How this list is checked

A form is listed only after its name and number were confirmed on the issuing agency’s or insurer’s own website, or in the form itself. Each entry links to that source. The list was last checked in October 2026. Forms change without notice, so download the current version from the official page before you fill it in.

Frequently asked questions

How often is the WCB Alberta counselling progress report due?

Monthly, as long as the worker has been seen at least once. If there were no sessions in a month, submit the report as soon as the next session is completed. A progress report is not required for the month in which the initial report was submitted on or after the 15th.

Why won't myWCB accept my counselling invoice?

Standalone invoices for past services are checked against your progress reporting: if no progress report has been submitted in the last 30 days, myWCB shows an error and blocks the invoice. Family counselling invoices have no such restriction. Complete, error-free invoices are processed within seven days, and failed ones are reviewed manually within 28 days.
