Louisiana IDRIS Infectious Disease Case Reporting

The Infectious Disease Reporting Information System (IDRIS) is the Louisiana Department of Health's online system for reporting diseases and conditions required by the Louisiana Sanitary Code, Title 51. Providers, infection preventionists, facilities and laboratories use it to send case reports to LDH's Bureau of Infectious Diseases. LDH does not post a paper provider case report form, and its IDRIS2 user manual explains the system.

Who completes it

The health care provider, infection preventionist or facility staff member reporting the case completes the whole online report in IDRIS.

Submitting and payment

How to submit it
Enter the case in IDRIS following LDH's IDRIS2 user manual, and direct questions to the regional epidemiologist or regional disease intervention specialist. After hours, on weekends and on holidays, LDH's on-call epidemiologist is available by phone.
Who pays
LDH lists no fee or payment for disease reports.

  • LDH posts separate guidance on how to report an outbreak, and some organisms require isolates or reference cultures sent to the State Public Health Laboratory.
  • Reportable conditions are set by the Sanitary Code; LDH links the current list from its How to Report Diseases and Conditions page.
