Kentucky EPID 394: Hepatitis in Pregnancy or Child

EPID 394 is the Kentucky Department for Public Health's report for hepatitis B or C infection in a pregnant or postpartum woman, or in a child aged two or under for HBV or three or under for HCV, including an infant born to an infected mother. Good to know

  • The form notes that HCV antibody testing should not be done at birth because of maternal antibodies; antibody testing with reflex RNA is done at 18 months or later.
  • For infants born to mothers with active HCV, KY DPH and CDC recommend HCV RNA nucleic acid testing at 2 to 6 months, recorded in the lab section.
  • Record whether HBV vaccine was given at birth and, for infants of mothers with HBV, whether and when HBIG was given.
  • The form asks who the infant lives with and whether the Department for Community Based Services is involved, with the case number.
