Anatomy of a result. Judge a paper before you open it.

Every study comes with the details you would look for first.

  1. 1

    The finding, cited

The line that answers your question, closed by its source.

  2. 2

    Title, as published

The paper’s own words, so you know what you are opening.

  3. 3

    Journal and year

Where it appeared, and how recent it is.

  4. 4

    Study design

Trial, review, cohort, or case series.

  5. 5

    Size

How many patients the result rests on.

  6. 6

    Level of evidence

L1 to L4, read from the design.

  7. 7

Graded by study design, from L1 to L4.

Trial results carry their level, so a meta-analysis never reads like a case series.

L1

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses

Many trials pooled into one estimate.

L1

Randomized controlled trials

Chance decides who gets the treatment.

L2

Cohort studies

Groups followed forward in time.

L3

Case-control studies

People with the outcome compared with people without it.

L3

Case series

A run of patients, with no comparison group.

L4

Expert opinion

Consensus statements and expert views.

Searching the literature with Vero.

How do I search peer-reviewed articles without Boolean or MeSH terms?

Type the clinical question in plain words. Vero finds the studies that answer it and shows each one with its journal, year, design, size, and level of evidence.

Which articles does Vero search?

Peer-reviewed journals, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, randomized trials and clinical studies, along with clinical guidelines and drug references. Never forums or blogs.

How is each study graded?

Trial literature carries a level of evidence from its design: L1 for systematic reviews and randomized trials, L2 for cohort studies, L3 for case-control studies and case series, and L4 for expert opinion.

Can I open the paper behind an answer?

Yes. Every citation links to its source, such as the article’s PubMed record, so you can read the abstract or the full paper.

What if the studies disagree?

The answer says so. It cites the trials on each side, so you can see which found a benefit and which did not.

Can I ask questions about a paper I already have?

Yes. Attach the PDF with Upload Files (up to 50 MB each) and ask about its methods or results. The answer names the file it came from.

Can my team keep a shared set of papers?

Yes. Add PDFs, Word files, and web pages to a Library collection your organization shares. Once a paper is ready, answers cite it by name.

Is Vero Evidence free?

It is included in every Vero plan. The free plan comes with 10 actions a month and needs no credit card; Pro is unlimited.
