Getting Evenings Back with Vero

One clinician had a feeling they were getting home earlier with Vero. Curious about how much had changed, they found a practical way to check: their Tesla already logged when they left the hospital.

They analyzed those departure records to look for a pattern. The result put a number to a difference they already felt: a median clinic departure nearly 50 minutes earlier than before they used a scribe.

From feeling the difference to measuring it

Their report went beyond a single average. It compared departure times, counted how often they left before 5 p.m., and plotted the share of clinic days they were still at work as the afternoon progressed.

The analysis included several periods: a baseline before using a scribe, an intermediate period with another scribe, and a later period using Vero. The baseline included 56 clinic days. The Vero period included 87.

The median—the middle departure time in each period—shifted 49 minutes earlier. The mean departure time also moved earlier, by 35 minutes.

Departures before 5 p.m. became more common, rising from roughly one in seven recorded clinic days to nearly half.

Almost 50 minutes, felt beyond the clinic

A median departure just before 6 p.m. had become a median departure just after 5 p.m. Their Tesla logs gave them a way to look back across many clinic days and see that pattern more clearly.

For them, the value of that difference was simple: getting home earlier.

What would an earlier finish mean for you?

Their approach offers a useful starting point for anyone evaluating a documentation tool: decide what improvement would matter to you, then look for a practical way to measure it.

Alongside note quality and fit with your workflow, consider tracking time spent completing notes and when you finish work. Here, the question was about getting home earlier—and the answer was already taking shape in the departure logs.
