Your protocols, cited by name
Add society guidelines, clinic protocols, and formularies as PDFs, Word files, or links. Answers drawn from them name the document, and your whole clinic shares the collection.
Both answer with citations. Vero also cites your own protocols, fills your forms, and learns how you write.
Used by clinicians at Cleveland Clinic, Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Mass General, Mount Sinai, Stanford Medicine, and UCLA Health.

Every OpenEvidence detail checked against its own user guide, app listing, and announcements.

Both answer clinical questions with cited sources, and both now include an ambient scribe. OpenEvidence leans on licensed journal content and offers CME credit. Vero Evidence can also cite your clinic’s own guidelines and protocols, and it sits in a workspace that fills PDF forms, suggests ICD-10 codes, and learns how you write.
OpenEvidence is free for verified U.S. clinicians with an NPI and, since September 2026, for Canadian physicians with a MINC. Its terms of use say the platform carries advertising and sponsored programs. Vero has a permanent free plan with 10 actions a month, and Pro is $69/month billed annually or $89/month billed monthly.
Yes. Evidence Collections hold PDFs, Word documents, text files, and links to web pages. Once an item shows as ready, answers can cite it by name. Collections are shared across your whole organization, with no per-user sharing or version history yet, so keep approved originals in your own records.
Yes. OpenEvidence Visits records the encounter, drafts the note in your templates, and suggests billing codes. The difference with Vero is what surrounds the note: PDF form auto-fill, notes that learn from your edits, and a reference library of your own.
They grade different things. Vero marks each cited study with a level of evidence, from L1 (systematic reviews and randomized trials) to L4 (expert opinion). OpenEvidence’s EvidenceGrade gives each answer an overall letter grade with its rationale. Neither replaces reading the source before you act on it.
We have not run a head-to-head accuracy test, so we do not claim one. Both cite their sources: open the citation, check that it supports the sentence, and judge whether it applies to your patient.
Yes, both. Canadian physicians can verify on OpenEvidence with their MINC. Vero is PIPEDA compliant, suggests ICD-10-CA codes for Canadian clinicians, and stores Canadian customers’ primary clinical data in Canada.
No. Vero publishes this page and sells Vero Evidence. Every OpenEvidence detail was checked against its own user guide, app listing, terms, and announcements. Both products change quickly, so confirm anything your choice depends on.
